Religulous – the year starts well
Religulous proclaims itself to be the #1 sacrilegious comedy in America. And it is. That and so much more. In a 2008 where films i saw were slow to move or inspire me, Religulous was my 3rd movie of 2009 and did the job.
This was a movie after my own heart. Funny as “hell”, more witty than Ali G’s interviews or Borat for that matter.
I wish more would realise the insanity of what we do in the name of beliefs. Even if you are a “good kind” of christian, muslim, jew or whatever else is out there you are not exempted from being guilty albeit not directly. But i question, how can you sleep well at night when you are part of something that has killed more than any plague.
And people aren’t just believers in God. They pay to support the institution too. I remember reading that the church in early Europe was giving out pieces of paper that were supposed to be like tickets to heaven. And that’s how banknotes appeared.
The thing is, this movie and its main protagonist (besides God) Bill Maher make all i am trying to say more clear. So i will leave it to it to express it further. Below is the synopsis of the movie and the video trailer.

Was a bit disappointed with this movie – it wasn’t nearly as funny as I expected it to be, and as for the discourse, material from Richard Dawkins is much more well thought out and presented.
I am glad to see the discourse is growing. Didn’t know about Richard Dawkins but i do now and it is worth sharing with you: this is his official website.
